AURORA, Colo. (July 11, 2018) - The 2018 Girls NPL Finals was held July 12-16 at Aurora Sports Park, featuring qualifying teams from NPLs throughout the country. New this year was the ENPL National Finals, which featured 16 boys teams competing in their respective national championships on July 13-14 at the same complex.

These participating girls teams had been vying for slots at the NPL Finals all year, so the competition level was high and intense, as expected.

The tournament web page, which contains coverage including photos and videos, can be accessed here.

(UPDATE - July 17: All championship games of the Girls NPL Finals were live streamed on Monday, July 16. You'll be able to watch all six of those archived matches for a limited time on the tournament web page.

Saturday, July 14:

National champions are being awarded today, but the girls will have to wait. The ENPL National Finals - held alongside the Girls NPL Finals this week - concludes this afternoon, while the girls competitors remain focused on getting through the group stage and earning slots to the semifinals.

Friday, July 13:

Nothing spooky about Friday the 13th here! Just the second day of the Girls NPL Finals. For those teams that didn't get out to the start they hoped for on day one, there's still time in group stage to make it up. And for those that did get the results they wanted to on Thursday, it's still critical to take every game one at a time.

Time slots are at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. MT today. Afterward, Fit for 90 founder John Cone will deliver a free seminar to players, coaches and parents about recovery - a topic that could make or break a team's chances this week at a national title.

(UPDATE - 5 p.m. MT: A full room of players, parents and coaches soaked up Cone's knowledge. "At high altitudes, our breathing rates increase, so we dehydrate quicker," Cone said.)

The 14-U division is shaping up to be one of the most competitive this week. In the bracket of 16 teams, five teams are 2-0-0, including SSA ’04 Elite, which brought its entire team – including parents – to the aforementioned recovery seminar. The other teams that have won both their games so far are: San Juan Spirits ’04, Seacoast United ’04 NPL, Cedar Stars Bergen NPL and PDA South Barcelona. Solar ’04 TCL is not far behind with one win and one tie.

The group of unblemished records will dwindle Saturday, though. Cedar Stars Bergen NPL and SSA ’04 Elite play at 1 p.m., and PDA South Barcelona and Solar ’04 TCL are matched up at the same time slot.

Thursday, July 12:

This is it: the opening day of the 2018 Girls NPL Finals. Qualifying teams from 19 NPLs around the country have competed all season for the opportunity to play for national championships, and here we are.

Because of the high temperatures throughout the week, all referees enforced mandatory water breaks each game.

The opening day was crucial for teams to earn points in their respective divisions and get out to a good start in group stage.

UPDATE - 2:30 p.m. ET: The final whistle at Aurora Sports Park has blown, and the results for all games today can be found here.
