CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 4, 2018) - The New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL) NPL Girls Division is welcoming expansion in the 2018-19 season. These clubs will join the league for girls NPL competition next season: FCUSA, Force FC, New York Surf and PSA Wildcats.
NYCSL is a veteran of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) landscape, and the NPL Division represents NYCSL’s top tier.
Beginning next season, here are the member clubs in the NYCSL NPL Girls Division:
- Brentwood SC (N.Y.)
- FCUSA (N.J.)
- Force FC (N.Y.)
- Manhattan SC (N.Y.)
- New York Surf (N.Y.)
- NJ Crush (N.J.)
- NJ Stallions (N.J.)
- NYSC (N.Y.)
- PSA Wildcats (N.J.)
- Quickstrike FC (N.Y.)
- STA (N.J.)
- SUSA (N.Y.)
The new clubs from New Jersey are existing NPL members that are being restructured to the NYCSL, while Force FC and New York Surf are new to the NPL through expansion.
“This restructuring and adding of new clubs to the NYCSL NPL Division brings clarity to the region,” said Leo Garcia, US Club Soccer Vice President of Competitions and NPL General Manager. “The new clubs are a great addition to an already strong league member of the NPL.”
Year-end league winners advance to the annual Girls NPL Finals, where they’ll compete against other top clubs from NPLs around the country for NPL championships. The NYCSL NPL Girls Division is a perennial favorite at the NPL Finals. In each of the past three NPL Finals, the NYCSL NPL Girls Division has had a member team claim an NPL title.
“We’re delighted to announce this significant strengthening of the NYCSL Girls NPL,” said John Curtis, NYCSL Technical Director. “I’m very confident the new league structure will drive up quality, reduce travel and provide all members with an enhanced league experience.”
Competitive opportunities are not the only highlights of the NYCSL NPL Division. Most notably, these clubs will continue to experience the benefits of Players First – a philosophy that US Club Soccer has used to accomplish its mission and vision since the platform launched nearly three years ago.
Players First is a branded, holistic club soccer experience for parents and players which emphasizes the development of each individual to his or her full potential, and helps parents make better choices about where their children should play. Players First is anchored by five pillars:
- Club Development
- Coaching Development
- Player Development
- Parent Engagement & Education
- Player Health & Safety
US Club Soccer has been consistent that Player Health & Safety is US Club Soccer’s “first and most important responsibility.” That commitment has been demonstrated through various initiatives and Players First partnerships, including 11+, Fit for 90, Player’s Health and Sideline Sports Doc. Information about Players First club licensing is coming soon.
US Club Soccer has implemented best-in-class background checks, as part of its background screening process for all registered staff. The effort complements a requirement for those registered staff to complete a Sideline Sports Doc/US Club Soccer online injury recognition course and SafeSport online training.
Additionally, LaLiga – a Players First partner – has worked alongside US Club Soccer since Players First was launched to provide clubs, coaches and players with guidance and expertise from the world’s best league. A staple of the LaLiga/US Club Soccer partnership is LaLiga Formation Methodology, a coaching education series that has educated about 1,200 coaches form 350 clubs/organizations around the country. This summer, an introductory level course will be hosted in New England.
