CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 3, 2014) – US Club Soccer is proud to announce Leo Garcia as the next National Premier Leagues (NPL) General Manager, effective immediately.
Garcia, the current Director of Event Marketing & Operations with US Club Soccer, fills the position vacated by Chris Baer, who became the Executive Director of Coaching at Ohio Premier SC.
The hire provides stability and a smooth transition, as Garcia brings 11 years of US Club Soccer experience to the position. He was hired in 2003 as an Event Manager before ascending through the ranks.
“The NPL is an exciting component of US Club Soccer, and although I’ve been involved with the NPL since its inception, I’m looking forward to an even larger role now,” Garcia said. “I'm committed to helping the NPL continue to better serve the needs of its member leagues, clubs and players.”
Beginning with the 2011-12 season, the NPL was established with a club-based model to elevate and change the competitive soccer landscape by extending developmental principles espoused by U.S. Soccer into more age groups and clubs. This is accomplished by linking competition with player development and identification platforms and by providing meaningful weekly competition culminating with the NPL Finals.
Nineteen leagues from across the country will make up the 2014-15 NPL season.
“Leo has always been an integral part of US Club Soccer,” Bill Sage, US Club Soccer Executive Director, said. “The NPL is in great hands with him, and it will continue to grow.”
Garcia may be reached at email@example.com or (843) 614-4140 x13.
