USA Futsal invites NPL's best to World Futsal Championships

US Club Soccer has partnered with USA Futsal to execute futsal initiatives throughout the country. As part of the first initiative, selected clubs from the NPL have been invited compete at the 2014 World Futsal Championships.

The showcase will be held August 6-10, 2014, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla., at Walt Disney World Resort.

As a result of your team’s standing within the NPL as well as demonstrated interest in futsal, your club is invited to compete at the World Futsal Championships this year. You will receive an official invitation from USA Futsal in the coming days.

The deadline to express interest is May 1.

One-hundred-and-sixty of the top youth teams and 32 of the top adult teams from four continents worldwide will participate, including teams from FC Barcelona, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and other top clubs from around the world.

The tournament will consist of six age groups (
1997-98 / 1999-00 / 2001-02 / 2003-04 / 2005-06), each with a male and female division. Additionally, there will be professional coaches, international scouts and world-renowned players in attendance to provide your teams with an unforgettable experience. Recently, the sport has been embraced by the U.S. Development Academy as an essential training tool and was incorporated into its U-13/U-14 age group.

As a member of the NPL, you also play a significant role in shaping the future landscape for soccer in this country. Thus, by integrating futsal into your competitive calendar, you are providing your players with an even greater opportunity to become successful soccer players.
